+If you're here reading this now, it's likely that you know that there was a lot of media and social media attention on Gamestop Stock (GME) and the subsequent rise to $483, from just $5 in mid-2020.
+
+The purpose of this post is to walk you through a brief timeline and provide some noteworthy research posts, which we call Due Diligence (DD). From here you can continue reading from a well-cataloged list of DD that goes far deeper once you have a top-level understanding of why 550k+ people are subscribed to [r/Superstonk](https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/) and many other GME subs currently.
+
+The Thesis: GME was massively over shorted, it was then massively overly naked shorted, which produced more shares than should be possible (A Lawsuit against Robinhood quotes 200%+ of GMEs float). As a result of this and the explosive attention it gained in late January and continuous/consistent buying that followed, retail shareholders own more than 100% of the float.
+
+The result of this thesis is what's known as the "MOASS", Mother of all short squeezes. While that sounds all well and good, we're actually here for the stock and its fundamentals, as long term, the potential for insane growth is staggering.
+

+In June/July 2020 "Roaring Kitty" aka [u/DeepFuckingValue](https://www.reddit.com/u/DeepFuckingValue/) began posting [Youtube Videos](https://www.youtube.com/c/RoaringKitty/videos) alongside his [GME stock positions in 2019](https://www.reddit.com/user/DeepFuckingValue/). That's right, he bought his April 16th 2021 expiry calls back in 2019.
+
+While his presence and posting was essentially the trigger for GME, there was another who inspired the rise of retail investors to come along for the GME transformation ride. Ryan Cohen (RC), the current Chairman of the Board - Co-Founder of Chewy, the pet company known for beating Amazon in their space for pet products. His vision has already helped transform GameStop massively since January 2021.

+Since then:
+
+1.  Multiple distribution centers have opened, becoming a fully-fledged e-commerce retailer
+
+2.  Retail shops have been refitted (and remodeled) with in house gaming set-ups (think LAN party), following a successful model that's proven in South Korea
+
+3.  Developing an NFT token which is theorized to trigger the MOASS, but more importantly, can flip the landscape upside down when it comes to game ownership, how in-game items are sold, and more. A whole new revenue stream.
+
+4.  Brought on an all-star executive team, leaving well-paying jobs at Amazon, Chewy, etc... for Gamestop. These high performers don't leave their roles for no reason, RC would have had to pitch a vision that they believed in.
+
+5.  Most importantly, since January 2021, GameStop has paid off all of its long-term debt and even accumulated around $2b in cash for future growth opportunities.

+On the 27th of January 2021, GME opened at $354.83 and increased to a staggering $483 before buying was halted by the stockbroker app Robinhood, among many other "new age" brokers. This resulted in GME dropping back down to the $40-50 range in a matter of days, as the ability to buy was taken away from a majority of retail participants while Hedge Funds continued to aggressively short the stock, applying, even more, sell pressure and pushing the price down.

+But, did the shorts close out their positions during this period? Nope.
+
+As many users' research has found, they hid them through various means, the main one being the use of options.

+Throughout February we saw GMEs price being suppressed at the $50 mark for close to a month. This has sparked a wave of research given the suspect decline in price and media outlets pushing that the Hedge Funds who shorted GME have covered. This is true in the sense that they hid their shorts through the use of options, but they have by no means closed them. They simply kicked the can a bit further down the road.
+
+While Hedge Funds are making these shady moves, research uncovered that the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) implicitly enables these situations by design, from naked shorting GME above 100% its' float to kicking the can (naked shorts) down the road.

+Since the price suppression of February 2021, [we've observed at least three large price increases](https://www.tradingview.com/chart/VWdwJbOd/) at seemingly random times. This is an ongoing field of research into why. What we know with certainty though and is observed through the resources above, is that those who shorted GME have not closed out their positions.. The Mother of All Short Squeezes (MOASS) is still very much on the table.
+
+Research evolves in this subreddit, improving upon hypotheses each of us has. The current theory on what's driving these price movements are supplemental liquidity deposit periods (SLD) and net capital requirements for those who are short GME.

+Why am I excited about this?
+
+A few people have already posted about it, but me being a math nerd, this makes me particularly excited and I'll explain why, although - with most of my posts, you're gonna get a history lesson, so get those crayons out and get ready to either snort them or write notes!
+
+Treating the Stock Market as a Casino
+
+This is true for Renaissance Technologies (Ren Tech) in the truest sense. A casino always has an edge over its players.
+
+Take a slot machine for example:
+
+A return to player is at an average of ~96%, this means if you walk in with $100, after a large number of spins, you'll be drained to $0 due to the 4% edge the casino has over you. In the long run, the casino will always win - also known as the law of large numbers, the average of the results obtained from a large number of trials (or spins in the case above), should be close to the expected value (the return to player of 96%).
+
+The Medallion Fund
+
+This particular fund, which is their most famous and profitable, beginning in 1988, after a rocky start, they hired a professor named [Elwyn Berlekamp](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elwyn_Berlekamp) which is where their returns started taking a turn for the better, consistently outperforming the market.
+
+An average return of 71.8% annual return before fees from 1994 to mid-2014. Insane.
+

+Elwyn pretty much set the stone for Ren Tech's success, he rewrote their trading algos to focus on short-term trade with sizing based on the opportunity.
+
+A Scientific Gambling Method
+
+From this anecdotal talk about how Elwyn approached trading algorithms lies the comparison to our casino, but in the world of science instead. The Kelly Criterion. Which is a formula that helps determine the optimal theoretical size for a bet. It's commonly used with investment decisions, and if you have an edge on the casino, take advantage of it while optimizing your asset allocation! As Bob Mercer said, who was also employed at Ren Tech:
+
+> We're right 50.75% of the time... but we're 100% right 50.75% of the time. You can make billions that way.
+
+The % referenced here was their ability to correctly predict the direction of medium/short term trades 50.75% of the time. Mercer and his colleagues built a system that modeled the relationship between stocks and then used this information to predict future bias in their price movement.
+
+Back to the Main Story
+
+Ren Tech has entered into a position with GME, owning it at some point in Q2 2021 and still likely owning in Q3 given that by 30th June 2021, we passed the initial June peak and were back down to the ~$213 mark.
+
+I'm going to suggest they bought after the June run-up and subsequent run-down and I'll explain why.
+
+Back in 2015, old mate Jim Simons, the founder of Ren Tech was on a [TED Talk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lji-jNsXmAM&t=552s) - I remember watching this video in the early days of GME, because hey, learn from the best, right?
+
+GME is an Anomaly
+
+Jim said in the Ted Talk:
+
+> An anomaly might be a random thing, but given enough data you can tell it's not. You can see an anomaly that's persistent for a sufficiently long enough time, so that the probability of it being random is not high. But these things fade after a while, anomalies get washed out, so you gotta keep on top of those.
+
+This was in 2015, so it does have some recency issues (left Ren Tech in 2009). However, him mentioning that jacks my tits. He was the first one to start using pattern analysis and ML when it came to trading commodities in the early days. The dude was an avid user of mean reversion as well, bringing it into popularity - and then the industry caught up, and then he hired lots of ultra-wrinkle brains to push the limits of mathematics and information theory further.

+The main point I'm trying to make here and above is, they are GREAT at picking stocks that'll make them money and it's all based on the data.

+Speculation Warning 🚀🚀🚀🚀

+This brings me to what [u/Criand](https://www.reddit.com/u/Criand/) has been speculating. I feel in my gut it's correct, and given the information above, I also think Ren Tech has figured out something similar as well (although given vast amounts more data than we could ever dream of getting our hands-on).
+
+To Ren Tech, the rollover period in Feb/March, where we saw the first spike after the Jan sneeze was a random anomaly, come the June spike and rollover period, I think that random anomaly turned into a not-so-random anomaly for them. So that leads me to my speculation that they bought after the June run-up when this random anomaly became a genuine market anomaly that they wanted to get a piece of the action.

+I was watching the order list today as price was moving and i noticed block orders from an exchange EDGX were pouring in thousands at a time. I took this screencap later so at the time there weren't as many, Imagine that 2k block order but filling half the feed

+The [Brazilian requirements](https://www.reddit.com/r/DDintoGME/comments/parhth/are_shfs_trying_to_get_around_the_isda_phase_5/) for ISDA's Phase 5 reporting are NOT the same as the U.S. requirements. Brazil had 1 transaction we saw from Citadel at an [undisclosed dollar value](https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/otzu3e/posting_some_more_info_to_help_wrinkle_brains/). They might be unloading enough to get below the reporting threshold for 2021. That's what's been bugging me all day.

+Had a nice up then sideways day that $10 dollar move today happened on 500k volume, looks good for the idea that bid/ask spread is gonna catapult this thing into the stratosphere on low volume...We also had a nice volume spike right at close. +Failed that first test of 170 but have a decent bounce on VWAP moving in for another test. OI on call side is pretty stacked at 170 so the beginning of the ramp we would want to see 175 for that to start to be hedged

+Yesterday was kind of a wild ride, 66% of or volume yesterday was sell side with a net short carryover of 16%, that means that less than 300k shares purchased was enough to jump the price $10.

+Slight dip at market open that looks like it is about filled back in. We are in a Descending wedge on the 15m timescale moving into opening bell that we hopefully will see break to the upside for another test of 170. Volume is low again this morning at 3k but yesterday's price action indicates that probably doesn't matter. Borrow rate is up to 1.0% with 150k shares borrowed this morning.

+The dip in the spy near close really dragged us down towards the end of the day. The FED minutes acknowledged high than estimated inflation and that seemed to cause some negative sentiment. The sideways movement today however was expected so we have not broken from the current price estimates. Thank you all and see you tomorrow.

+Another day, another impending market correction. GME dragged down by almost 1% in after hours with the S&P 500 down almost 80 points overnight. It looks like yesterday's FED minutes are being felt by the market.
+
+I may have to step away at various points today to manage other positions, if that is the case I will still continue to update anything pertinent with GME. As usual in these "market correction" situations be prepared for a dip and it could be a steep one.

+Closed up from that bounce actually looking pretty good for tomorrow. I'm not really sure about our price action tomorrow but the gamma ramp is pretty stacked all the way from 160 -200 so if we hit it and hit it hard we could run like crazy. Thank you all for tuning in and have a good night.

+
+With a market correction impending I have no idea what to expect as far as technicals go. We have nearly 14k volume right now and 150k shares available to borrow. We have already fallen a bit below the low support at 155 but it's possible we will regain that when the market opens. Below this we fall back to historical resistances at 152/150/147. 131 was our low the last time we were in this range. The gamma ramp is firmly in place and I expect it will be lowered to follow this downward price action.

+Yesterday's slight market correction didn't hurt as much as expected. But, it continues to remain unstable today with the S&P gapping down 40 points in the pre-market. The longs took advantage of the price dip yesterday and doubled down on the weekly gamma ramp dropping the entry point down to $160. If we do see some momentum today there is potential for a move. If the broader markets continue to hurt and our volume remains low I expect that we will complete that lower trend from last weeks DD.

+Nice close up 4.19% on the day. We didn't really hit that gamma ramp on the last test of 160 but we managed to stay within expected price range for the week with a $1.10 margin of error for today's expected low. I have pretty high expectations for next week which I will discuss more in my Sunday DD. Thank you all so much for the support .

+
+6k pre-market volume. 50k shares borrowed with 100k remaining. It looks like we are gonna be in for another slow day unless some volume comes in it will be difficult to break through any relevant resistances. The ideal outcome is that the shorts will not continue to be aided by the market decline and we can close out the day near max pain @ 165. If we do break 160 on some volume the gamma ramp is pretty spicy, but not guaranteed unless a significant amount of buy pressure comes in.
